Carrboro Hires Director of Public Works
The Town of Carrboro is excited to announce the hiring of Joe Guckavan as Public Works Director. Guckavan joined Carrboro January 8, 2018, just before the winter storm that dropped a foot of snow in Carrboro. “I’m proud of the hard work our department dedicated to keeping our roads cleared and safe for the citizens of Carrboro! Our crews worked around the clock in freezing temperatures to make sure all troublesome areas were addressed. I am grateful to be a part of a town that is so passionate and proactive when it comes to the safety of its residents,” said Guckavan.
Prior to Carrboro, Guckavan worked in both the private and public sectors. He previously held the same title in Warrington Township in Buck County Pennsylvania. He has also served as Director of Physical Plant Services at Gwynedd-Mercy College, and most recently as Executive Director of Facilities Management and Construction Planning for Delaware Valley University in Doylestown Pennsylvania. Guckavan holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, an associate’s degree in Construction Management, and he is a registered professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania.
“I am delighted to have a Public Works Director with such an extensive background and with the level of management experience Joe brings to Carrboro,” said Mayor Lydia Lavelle.
Joe and his wife are the parents of 6 and also have 2 grandchildren. Please join us in welcoming Joe Guckavan to Carrboro!
