    The Big Book Sale! Thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records for sale with prices starting at 50¢. Proceeds benefit Chapel Hill Public Library. Friday September 13, 2019 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm Friends only, with memberships sold at the door ($10 for students, including college and grad students) Saturday is 10:00 - 5:30.   2. Cleaning Carrboro

    The goal of this event is to rid our environment of litter by cleaning the local Carrboro area and promoting environmental education. We must have enough volunteers to get the job done. The morning will consist of cleaning up trash and recycling debris left around Carrboro and our parks. Adults are welcome to participate! Please sign-up online or at the recreation front office.   3. Critter Carnival - meet & learn about animals! (FREE)

    September 14, 2019, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Southern Community Park, Chapel Hill

    Meet & learn about animals at the 5th annual Critter Carnival on Sat., Sep. 14 at Southern Community Park in Chapel Hill, NC. The event seeks to raise awareness and funds for numerous local animal rescue and rehabilitation charities. From 10am to 2pm you can meet and learn about a wide variety of animals! The animal charities attending this year’s festival are a large variety of nonprofits dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs, cats, wildlife, farm animals and exotic animals. We’ll also have live folk, country and world music performances from Crystal Bright, John Saylor & Anita Lorraine Moore, plus animal-related vendors, arts & crafts vendors, Maple View ice cream and award-winning lemonade. The kids area includes animal masks, sidewalk chalk, animal coloring books, Play-Doh, art supplies & a free martial arts demo where kids can learn to break wooden boards! We’ll also have a silent auction for lots of great items. Bring your critters and join us! Admission is FREE!
