National Community Planning Month

October is Community Planning Month in Carrboro

The Town of Carrboro has joined in the celebration of National Community Planning Month by proclaiming October as Community Planning Month.

In issuing the proclamation, Mayor Lydia Lavelle recognizes the participation and dedication of the members of our numerous advisory boards and commissions, task forces, and coalitions, and other citizen planners who regularly contribute their time and talents to the improvement of the Town of Carrboro.

“We recognize the many valuable contributions made by professional community and regional planners of the Town, Orange County, our neighboring communities, region, and State, and extend our heartfelt thanks for the continued commitment to public service by these professionals,” Mayor Lavelle said.

Orange Co Halloween 2

Safer, Alternative Ways to Participate in Halloween

Many traditional Halloween activities can be high-risk for spreading viruses. There are several safer, alternative ways to participate in Halloween. If you may have COVID-19 or you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, you should not participate in in-person Halloween festivities and should not give out candy to trick-or-treaters.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says traditional outdoor trick or treating or trunk and treating where treats are handed to children are lower risk this year, but limiting crowds is a good idea.
