Traffic Alert: W. Rosemary Street Closure
A tree removal project will require a temporary road closure to through traffic on W. Rosemary Street between E. Main in Carrboro and Roberson Street in Chapel Hill from about 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16.
Detour signage will direct travelers onto Franklin Street and Roberson Street. Please see the detour map. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians should stay alert when traveling in this area.
The tree to be removed, located at the intersection of W. Rosemary and E. Main streets near the Carrboro-Chapel Hill gateway, is posing a public safety hazard.

Traffic Alert: Homestead Road Closure (Update from Town of Chapel Hill)
Homestead Road will be closed between Weaver Dairy Road Extension and Seawell School Road Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 18-19.
Norfolk Southern will perform work on the railroad crossing. During the closure, the Town will also finish building new sidewalks at the crossing. These sidewalks are part of the Town’s commitments to connectivity, accessibility, and safety.
Community members who live on this stretch of Homestead Road will still have access to their homes, but school traffic coming from Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. will need to detour.
Detours
- If you are traveling from Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. to Chapel Hill High School or Seawell Middle School – follow the detour from Eubanks Road to Rogers Road then Homestead Road.
- If you are traveling from Hillsborough Road in Carrboro, you can access the high school and middle school without detouring.
- If you are traveling from Hillsborough Road in Carrboro to Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. In Chapel Hill, follow the detour from Homestead Road to Rogers Road then Eubanks Road.
