An intense thunderstorm moved through Carrboro and southern Orange County during the morning of Friday, May 27. In addition to lightning strikes, the storm delivered a relatively short duration but high intensity rainfall.

The Town of Carrboro’s Public Works and Stormwater Management teams prepared in advance to ensure that many culverts and storm drains were clear of debris to reduce flooding.

Report Flooding 
Just as crews check for issues on public property, residents can help ensure the drainage systems in their yards and neighborhoods continue functioning properly after a storm.

• If you experience flooding during a storm event, use the online reporting form at https://tocgis.ci.carrboro.nc.us/Carrboro/FloodReport/ If it is an emergency situation contact 911.
