CARRBORO, NC -- On Feb.12, 2025, the Carrboro Police Department responded to multiple reports of vehicle break-ins and thefts in Carrboro in the area of Pathway Drive. A total of 20 vehicles were broken into, one vehicle was stolen, and a stolen vehicle from Burlington was recovered in Carrboro.
Investigation into these incidents led to the identification of two suspects. The first suspect was identified as Jakori Leak, 18, of Hillsborough. Leak is charged with:
- Felony Larceny after Breaking/Enter to residence
- Felony Break and/or Enter to Motor Vehicle (18 counts)
- Felony Break and/or Enter to Motor Vehicle w/theft (two counts)
- Felony Breaking and/or Enter Residence
- Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle
- Felony Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle
Leak has not been arrested yet. The second suspect is a juvenile and will be charged on a juvenile petition with the following charges:
- Felony Larceny after Breaking/Enter to residence
- Felony Break and/or Enter to Motor Vehicle (18 counts)
- Felony Break and/or Enter to Motor Vehicle w/theft (two counts)
- Felony Breaking and/or Enter Residence
- Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle
- Felony Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle
The police department recommends that you lock your cars, don’t leave valuables in your vehicles, park in well-lit areas, and not leave a spare key in or on your vehicle. If you observe suspicious activity, please call 911 to report it.
